Amazon pop-up store – when did it open, where in the UK is it, and how can I visit?
AMAZON is expanding once again - this time to the embattled high street.
Here's what you need to know about its latest spurt of pop-ups - and how you can find them.
When did it open?
Amazon is opening ten pop-up stores in town centres across the UK as part of a year-long pilot.
The online retailer giant - sometimes accused of heralding the demise of the high street - says it's giving 100 online brands the chance to grow their high street presence.
Their first pop-up opened on June 3, 2019.
Where in the UK is it?
The first temporary store opened in St Mary's Gate in Manchester city centre.
Make-up for men and adult scooters are available to try, alongside luxury leather phone cases, bags and high heels for "problem feet".
It's part of the e-commerce site's Clicks and Mortar scheme, launched in partnership with Enterprise Nation.
A one-day trial has also been conducted in some of London's main stations, selling just one thing that people can pay for online, in advance or at the kiosk.
It's not yet known where the other stores will launch, but more will follow in Wales, Scotland, the Midlands, Yorkshire and the South East.
How can I visit?
The Manchester pop-up is easily accessible.
You can reach St Mary's Gate in Manchester city centre in just 12 minutes tram ride from Piccadilly Station.
