Food tip. Do not fill up at service stations or airports, where prices are hiked. Stock up on healthy snacks instead, with a packed lunch with nibbles including nuts, grapes, crackers and dried fruit to keep the kids’ energy levels up. Put a bottle of squash in the freezer the night before your trip and you will have an ice-cold drink ready for the journey.
Be sun-cream savvy. Who wants to spend half the day applying sun lotion when you could be out enjoying the rays? Stock up on a once-a-day lotion and you will not have to keep reapplying. Poundland’s Calypso cream costs only a quid. Just remember that most of these lotions need topping up after towelling dry.
