SHOPPERS will go on a £11.5billion spending spree this Easter bank holiday.
The heatwave is predicted to boost sales as millions hit the high street to spend a huge £410 per household on average.
As you might expect, garden centres and DIY stores will see the biggest sales push as customers hurry to finish odd jobs over the bank holiday weekend and do up their gardens in the sunshine.
Their sales are expected to be up by 8.5 per cent on the same period last year, according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).
Shoppers are also expected to splurge on summer clothes as they roast in up to 26C heat, as well as days out over the long weekend.
It's a huge boost for the struggling high street.
This year has already seen Debenhams, LK Bennett, OddBins, and Patisserie Valerie fall into administration.
Owen Good, of the CEBR, said: "Recent retail data has been very strong, and aided by the good weather and Easter falling late this year, we expect a bumper long weekend for the high street."
It comes as the Easter weekend is expected to be the hottest in 70 years.
Good Friday temperatures in the UK topped 24C in some areas as the warmest day of the year so far beat Europe’s sun spots.
And it's going to get even hotter, with the mercury expected to hit 26C on Easter Sunday.
