LAND yourself an exciting high-flying career at Manchester Airport.
It is hiring more than 1,000 staff as it gears up for what is set to be its busiest ever summer.
Roles include lounge agents, drivers and security officers, cabin crew, baggage handlers and customer service personnel.
There are also apprenticeships and graduate schemes, as well as managerial positions.
The airport is already one of the largest centres of employment in the North West with more than 25,000 people directly employed on site, supporting a further 45,000 jobs in the region.
Associated companies joining the recruitment drive include Jet2.com, Swissport, Boots and the Clayton Hotel.
Full training will be offered to any successful applicants.
Brad Miller, chief of staff at Manchester Airport, says: “There are hundreds of jobs being created, both directly with ourselves and with the many other organisations we work with on our campus.
“It is pleasing to see that, as we grow, so do the benefits delivered to communities and region.”

'Pay above average'
NINETEEN-year-old Molly Roberts is seeing her career lift off thanks to Manchester Airport.
Molly, from Sharston, Manchester, makes sure the airport runs smoothly as an apprentice in its property services team – arranging ticket desks and office space for airlines and other airport businesses.
Molly says: “The airport is an exciting place to work and you learn something new every day.
“There are lots of pathways open, so if you fancy something different, you can go for it.
“Before my apprenticeship, I was working in retail and studying travel and tourism but it wasn’t for me. An apprenticeship helps me learn and earn at the same time and my pay is well above average.
“To do well working at an airport, you need to be confident and outgoing, willing to muck in and help others in their roles.

How to beat the CV bots
WILL your CV beat the hiring bots – the specialised software used by organisations to screen candidates’ job applications.
Three-quarters of candidates don’t know if theirs will, according to research from CV-writing firm TopCV.

“It bases its decisions on keywords, so candidates should study the job ad carefully to ensure their application reflects the recruiter’s requirements.”

- Include keywords – use the job ad as a starting point for these and reflect back as many as you can.
- Format your CV correctly – Word document, left-aligned and image-free.
- Avoid fluff – stick to proven skills and qualifications.
- Use clear, industry-standard job titles.
- Include specific, accurate qualifications.
- Tidy up your social media – it is best to turn your settings to private.

UK workers are losing a staggering £1.8billion in holiday pay each year because staff don’t know how much they’re entitled to, new research reveals.
Now the Government has launched a campaign called A Fair Workplace to ensure employees are paid what they are owed and employers understand their legal obligations.
A spokesman said: “The lack of knowledge of holiday pay means some workers such as flexible workers, people on zero-hour contracts, agency workers and temporary staff, are more at risk of not receiving the holiday pay they are entitled to.”
