TK Maxx insiders reveal the secrets to finding the best bargains – from yellow labels to the best time to shop
With these tricks shoppers can go into any TK Maxx confident they will come out with the cheapest items
TK Maxx insiders have shared sneaky tips to ensure shoppers can hunt out the best bargains.
The high street giant is well known for bringing in designer goods for a knock-off price.
Clothing, toys, homeware and beauty products can be found with a staggering amount taken off the usual retail price.
But the busy shops and stuffed rails can cause eager customers to panic.
Many people will admit to swerving the stores despite knowing they could save some pennies.
However, with these tricks shoppers can go into any TK Maxx confident they will come out with the cheapest items.
PICK THE RIGHT TIME
While the shops get new stock in every day, employees have advised shoppers to go in in the morning.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings are thought to be the prime time to head in to find the best bargains.
HEAD OUT OF TOWN
Although the city shops are easiest to get to for many people, they should consider heading out of town.
As these shops are less often visited they are likely to have a wider selection of designer pieces.
Parking could also be better and so shoppers will be able to lug home larger goods with ease.
SET YOUR ALARM
Insiders suggest going to the shops at opening time.
The reason for this is simple - the earlier you go the more likely it is that you'll have more room to browse AND the rails will still be relatively organised.
PICK UP THAT ROLLING BASKET
Shoppers are likely to pick up more than they intended as they move around the store.
It's key they remember to grab the basket on the way in as if not vital bargains could be lost in the time taken to go back and nab one.
It also means you can dump bags from previous shops in there leaving you relatively hands-free to properly browse.
NO KIDS ALLOWED
For the sake of your sanity leave your children at home, as they are likely to not enjoy the chaos.
This will only lead to your trip becoming more stressful.
KEEP FUELLED
There is apparently a real thing called "TK MAxx Crash and Burn".
Avoid it by bringing in sustenance.
Think water and snacks, so the energy levels never dip as you hunt out that bargain.
IT'S POSSIBLE TO BUY FOR 20P
There are magical sounding items called "a yellow label".
These clearance items are on sale for just 20p.
But they have existed as a red clearance item before this drastic cut down, and so are likely to have already been found and bought.
SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE
There are plenty of jazzier items on the racks, but insiders say these will go out of fashion quickly.
So it's better to spend the time searching out classic staples that will last for years.
GOLD LABELS
If shoppers are on the hunt for designer goods only, then they should keep an eye out for the Gold Label.
This range includes swish brands on the cheap, such as Versace, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs.
THE PERFECT FIT
If you are someone who struggles to fit into standard sizings elsewhere, TK Maxx might be the place for you.
Insiders say that less common sizes are more common in stores.
So those who fall foul of the average may have better luck rummaging through the aisles in the high street giant.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY AND GET READY TO HUNT
Diving into TK Maxx with the aim of coming out laded with bargain items can be daunting, and it can take time.
Finding what you want and a discount price can require patience and an hour or so set aside.
And always try what you have picked out before purchasing - as each brand can fit differently.
Also it can be handy to wear something that is easy to take on and off, so you can try things on quickly and easily.
REMEMBER: HOMEWARE AND BEAUTY
The homeware and beauty sections are full of unsung items to snap up - with various household bits unique and colourful.
And it is useful to remember the designer goods aren't just limited to the clothing range.
The stores also stock decent health food products, even included protein powders to bulk up on at a bargain.
THE RRP 'BARGAIN'
Insiders say the original retail price on the label might not be as high as it says, as found in a Dispatches investigation.
This doesn't mean to say it isn't a bargain, but might not be quite as big a saving as shoppers may think.
SAY YES TO THE DRESS
It's true - they sell wedding dresses!
There is a large range of bridal party dresses and prom gowns too.
STAFF DISCOUNT AND REWARDS
Anyone who works at a TK Maxx gets 10 per cent discount.
Bargain loving shoppers can even tap up their pals behind the till or in the stock room to get even more money off.
There is also a rewards programme with the Treasure card, which you can pick up in store.
Voucher codes can also be picked up online to save more money.
RETURNS WITHIN REASON
Shoppers can bring back anything within 28 days, with labels on and with the receipt to prove purchase.
Items dubbed "pre-loved", with signs of wear and tear can be returned but need to be in the original packaging and can't have had any stickers or tags tampered with.
DONATE AWAY
You can give anything you don't want anymore to TK Maxx donation points, with all quality items sold in Cancer Research UK shops.
All the money made from these items will go to charity.
