Aldi is selling a Christmas dinner for two with all the trimmings for just £9 – and it’s MUCH cheaper than Tesco’s version
Hate cooking? Aldi has launched a festive ready meal with all the trimmings and it will cost you less than a tenner
ALDI has launched its Christmas dinner in a box and it will only cost you £8.99.
The 900g ready meal serves two, so you can have a hassle- and leftover-free festive lunch.
The discounter supermarket has said it is responding to demand from customers for an "easy Christmas".
The meal includes:
- British turkey slices
- Wiltshire cured ham
- Beef dripping Yorkshire puddings made in Yorkshire
- British pigs in blankets
- British pork stuffing balls
- Duck fat roast potatoes
- Honey roasted parsnips
- Chantenay carrots
- Brussels sprouts with bacon lardons
- Cranberry sauce
- Poultry stock and red wine gravy
The dish is only available in store, so you'll have to head to your nearest Aldi to pick one up.
There are over 650 Aldi's across the UK and you can find your nearest store .
But Aldi isn't the only supermarket to offer a boxed up Christmas dinner this year.
Tesco has its own version, but it's far more expensive at £35.
But the Tesco offering is far bigger, weighing 2.205kg compare to Aldi's 900g.
Tesco's version includes:
- Turkey breast fillet wrapped in bacon
- Roasted potatoes
- Vegetables
- Sausages wrapped in bacon
- Stuffing balls
- Yorkshire pudding
- Turkey gravy
- Cranberry sauce
It also comes with desserts and drinks, including:
- Christmas pudding made with breadcrumbs and tapioca starch, with brandy soaked glacé cherries, cider and CORVOISIER VS Cognac
- Brandy sauce
- Champagne
- Christmas crackers
The dinner is no longer available for pre-order, but you may be able to pick one up in store if you're quick - we've asked Tesco to confirm if there are any meals left and we'll update this story when we get a response.
We couldn't find any other supermarkets offering meals for two, but Iceland does have ready meal for one options.
The supermarket's costs £2.69 for a 420g lunch.
It includes:
- Turkey breast
- Ham
- Parsley, sage and onion stuffing
- Roast potato
- Carrot
- Turnip and parsnip mash
- A rich chicken gravy
The meal can be microwaved in 10 minutes or cooked in the oven in 25 minutes.
Iceland's second offering is a frozen meal for one turkey dinner, which costs £1.50 for 450g.
It includes:
- Turkey
- Potatoes
- Vegetables
- Sage and onion stuffing
- Pork cocktail sausage
- Cranberry gravy
Last year, the Co-op launched its own Christmas in a box, but a representative confirmed that the store will not be offering it again this year.
