Tesco has a festive Sausage Rolls Garland, while the M&S variety is filled with pork, sage and caramelised onion.

And Asda has a pork, turkey and cranberry pastry-covered wreath.

Customers are split over whether the new sausage wreath from Waitrose is a Christmas miracle or a festive flop.

The wreath is made from plaited strings of three different flavours of sausage coated with a sticky cranberry glaze.

But others said it looked like gruesome body parts and was “the stuff nightmares are made of”.

Some shoppers welcomed the product, with one describing an image of it on Twitter as “like heaven in a picture” and a “festive sausage wreath of joy”.

Several supermarkets have also launched wreath-shaped desserts.

These include a panna cotta wreath at Lidl, an orange and almond brioche at Sainsbury’s, a Black Forest gateau wreath at Tesco and a raspberry meringue wreath at Waitrose.
