The Black Friday giveaway comes after KFC changed its fries recipe to make them chunkier - and it was all thanks to one woman on Twitter who complained about how terrible the chain's chips were.

Now the 99p fries have become more "rustic" with the skins left on and the chain hopes they're tastier too - but not everyone is convinced.

Several fans have complained on Twitter about the new recipe and say they're even worse than the old skinny fries.

But a KFC spokesman said the chain had been "blown away" by the feedback on its new chips.

KFC changed the recipe after admitting its old recipe wasn't good enough.

It said it had been inspired by a diner called Charlie Burness, who went to KFC for her mother's birthday four years ago but afterwards the family agreed the restaurant's chips had let them down.

Last month, the fast food chain got in touch with Charlie to ask if they could pay Twitter to promote her tweet.

It was planning to change the recipe of its chips to now sell thicker, rustic fries with the skins left on - and they saw her tweet as a chance to reveal why.

Black Friday is a shopping phenomenon brought over from the US.

On the day, shops' prices plummet for 24 hours in an attempt to get people splashing the cash in the run-up to Christmas.

Recent years have seen retailers stay open longer or start earlier with special deals to entice customers.

Each year, big retailers like Amazon, Argos and Morrisons use Black Friday to give massive price reductions to shoppers just before Christmas kicks in.

Some retailers such as Amazon extend the sale over weeks. Amazon's will run for 10 days in total.
