TURN UP THE HEAT

Iceland launches curry made with world’s hottest chilli to rival Morrisons

The curry is made from fiery Carolina Reaper chillies, which are even spicier than the scorpion chillies in Morrison's Flaming Fiery Phaal

ICELAND is selling what could be the hottest curry on supermarket shelves, following Morrison's attempt last week.

Its new Carolina Reaper Curry is made using a whole red Jinta chilli and a Carolina Reaper chilli, which Iceland says is 200 times hotter than a jalapeno.

The frozen curry contains chicken marinated in tikka spices and is served in a curry sauce flavoured with the fiery Carolina Reaper.

It's then finished with a whole red Jinta chilli for an extra kick.

Iceland recommends serving the curry with a pot of yoghurt or rice, to help cool down the spicy flavour.

Last week, Morrisons brought out its attempt at the hottest supermarket curry, with it's Flaming Fiery Phaal made from scorpion chillies.

The supermarket launched the explosive curry after one customer said its previous attempt, the Volcanic Vindaloo, wasn't spicy enough.

In comparison, scorpion chillies come just below the Carolina Reaper on the Scoville scale - a unit to measure chilli strength.

Morrisons claims the curry is so hot that is has to come with an eight chilli warning on the front to warn customers.

If you think you can handle the heat, you can pick up the Carolina Reaper curry now in store or online for £2.

And it's on offer at the moment so you can get four packs for £5.

Some Iceland customers have already braved the extreme spice, and many seemed to struggle with it.

These chillies are so hot that staff had to wear masks, gloves and safety glasses so that the spicy peppers didn't irritate their skin.
