Asda is selling brandy buttercream mince pies – and they are amazing
TRADITIONAL mince pies are always a must at Christmas, but soon you'll also be able to tuck into an even sweeter version with buttercream from Asda.
It's just like your traditional mince pie filled with a mincemeat of juicy fruits, but also has a swirl of brandy buttercream and sugar dusting on top.
The brandy buttercream mince pies will go on sale in Asda stores and online on October 15, and set you back £2 for a pack of six.
This compares to a pack of six traditional mince pies at Morrisons and Sainsbury's, currently on sale for half the price at £1.
Tesco's mince pies are more expensive - there you'll currently only get a pack of four for £1.
If you really want six pies in a box, Tesco also sells six snowflake-shaped pies by Mr Kipling for £1.50, or two for £2 - which makes it as good a price as the ones at Sainsbury's and Morrisons.
If you still want to give the buttercream mince pies a go, keep in mind that each pie contains 247 calories which might seem a bit over the top.
But they are actually worth it - we know because we tried them ahead of launch.
The buttercream mince pies are only the latest mince pie flavour combinations to hit supermarket shelves as we head for Christmas.
In September Wilko started selling mince pie-flavoured fudge for just £1.50.
An even more bizarre mince pie product is M&S' mince pie martini, which launched a few weeks ago.
Some people think it's illegal to tuck into mince pies on the wrong day - are they right?
