Honey and Oat biscuits sold at Asda recalled as they could trigger allergic reactions
Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd is asking people to return its Honey and Oat treats to stores as they contain wheat which isn't on the label
BISCUITS on sale at Asda are being urgently recalled because they contain wheat which is not mentioned on the label.
Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd is asking people to return its Honey and Oat treats to stores as they could trigger allergic reactions.
The British-made biscuits - which cost £1.25 for a 200g pack at Asda - do not list wheat as an ingredient, which could trigger symptoms in people with coeliac disease or a wheat allergy.
People with coeliac disease may have diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion or constipation, while those with an allergy might start to sneeze, itch or start wheezing.
Some severe forms of the allergy can also result in anaphylactic shock, which can be life threatening.
The packaging states the biscuits only contain rolled oats, vegetable fat, sugar and honey.
Shoppers who have bought 200g packets of the biscuits with a use-by date up to May 2019 should return them to the store they bought them from for a full refund.
No other products made by Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd are known to be affected.
The Food Standards Agency, which issued the recall, has advised the biscuit maker to contact allergy support organisations, which will tell its members about the recall.
The Sun has contacted Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd for comment and we will update this story when we hear back.
Yesterday, we revealed that a children's 'squishies' toy shaped like a cake had been recalled over fears kids could choke on it.
Meanwhile Subway has temporarily withdrawn its Veggie Patty from menus and is ordering in a new batch because one patty was found to contain plastic.
