Asda launches a spicy Vindaloo inspired pizza – and it’s topped with crispy POPPADOMS
The supermarket's new pizza is topped with chicken, pieces of crispy poppadom and fiery Vindaloo spices
PIZZA and curry are two of Britain's favourite takeaway foods - and now you can enjoy them together, thanks to Asda.
The supermarket has launched a Vindaloo Pizza for £3.50, and it claims to be very spicy.
The 14-inch pizza is topped with spicy chicken pieces, pieces of crispy poppadom, as well as the fiery Vindaloo spices you normally find in the notoriously hot curry, such as chilli, cayenne pepper, turmeric, cumin and ginger.
It's being launched to celebrate National Curry Week, which runs from October 22 until October 29 - but the pizza is already available to buy online and in stores now.
We haven't had a chance to try the new pizza yet, but it looks perfect for anyone who likes spicy food.
The pizza is pricier than 10" pizzas in Asda's Thin & Crispy range, which starts from £2.30, but is the same price as its other 14-inch options, including its Cheese Meltdown, Pepperoni Feast and American Sizzler options.
More on Money
Nick Robinson, Asda category planning assistant said: “We know Brits love a unique hybrid product, and we wanted a way of honouring the flavours of National Curry Week, so what better way to do this than on the UK’s most loved takeaway: pizza.
"The fusion of Italian and Indian flavours works extremely well, providing a pop of spice in every slice, so we know it’ll be a hit with customers.”
It's not the first time Asda has sold weird and wacky pizzas.
Last year, it launched a cheesy chips pizza costing £4.50.
More recently, Pizza Express has also launched a very spicy pizza called American Hottest into Waitrose stores in the last week.
