CHOC HEAVEN

Tesco is selling an After Eight advent calendar – but it costs £10

It includes 24 pieces of dark and white chocolates with mint flavoured fillings - but is not a great deal for those who are looking to save money

DECEMBER is fast approaching – so what could be better than an After Eight advent calendar?

Tesco has just started selling that online and in stores, but it’s not a great deal if you’re only after the chocolate.

The 185g calendar contains 24 pieces of dark and white chocolates with mint flavoured fillings – one for each day of advent – and costs £10.

But if you aren’t fussed about the actual calendar, you can get more chocolate for a lower price by buying a box of After Eight instead.

Asda offers the best original price of a 300g pack of the chocolate – 115g more than in the advent calender – at £2.

This means that you only pay 66.7p per 100g of an After Eight box, in contrast to the £5.41 you would have to pay for every 100g of the calendar.

Morrisons and Sainsbury’s also sell the 300g boxes for £2, but their prices are down from £2.50 and £3 respectively.

Iceland sells the boxes of chocolate for £3 each, or any two for £4 – which makes it as good a price as at Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s if you pick up at least two.

Customers who are watching their waistlines may also want to avoid the calendar – it contains 547 calories per 100g compared to a box of After Eight which contains 432 calories per 100g.
