Asda is launching ghost-shaped crumpets for Halloween

They cost £1 for a pack of six - but cheaper crumpets are available at the supermarket

Asda is now selling Ghost Crumpets for £1 a pack

HALLOWEEN is a time to celebrate all things scary and spooky - but Asda's new ghost-shaped crumpets are more cute than creepy.

The supermarket is selling packs of six crumpets - which all have a wailing ghost face - for £1 this month.

These crumpets have clearly been modelled on Casper the Friendly Ghost rather than The Grudge.

But the holey breakfast treats would be perfect for a special Halloween themed breakfast, especially if you have young kids.

The crumpets are shaped like typical bedsheet ghosts and the creators have also managed to decorate each crumpet with an adorable ghoulish face by cooking the crumpet a little more to create the effect.

They work out at 17p per crumpet in a pack - but if you're not bothered about having ghost-shaped crumpets, there are cheaper versions available at Asda.

The cheapest pack of six is a 40p pack of Asda Crumpets which works out at just 7p per crumpet.

Asda recommends toasting the new ghost crumpets lightly until they are golden brown, topped with melted butter and jam.

They are available in stores and online from today.

Ciara Loker, Asda product developer, said: “Following the success of the fluffy Bunny and Love Heart-shaped toaster treats at Easter and Valentine’s Day, we know that shaped, novelty crumpets are always popular choices amongst our customers, and we couldn’t let Halloween go by without creating these devilish delights, which are no trick and all treat.

"Last year, our Jack-o’-lantern crumpets flew off shelves throughout October, so we hope our customers enjoy these spooktastic crumpets for Halloween just as much.”

Cadbury is also selling themed Halloween treats as it has launched new Goo Heads - a spooky version of the iconic Creme Eggs.

Meanwhile Aldi is selling an inflatable Halloween arch for £40 so you can decorate your house for the spooky holiday.
