Asda launches foot-long pig in blanket – and it’s bigger than Aldi’s

ASDA is launching THE ultimate sausage showstopper - a giant pig in blanket measuring a mammoth foot long in length and 45mm deep.

And the jumbo sausage promises to be "bigger and meatier than ever" - trumping all others pigs in blankets out there.

It's made with over 500g of succulent British pork and wrapped with 100g of sizzling British dry cured streaky bacon rashers.

Aldi launched it's own head-turning foot-long sausage wrapped in bacon yesterday at a much cheaper £2.99  - and that's for two.

But its version weighs in at 200g a sausage - less than Asda's impressive 650g whopper.

Asda's cheeky little - or not so little - sausage can be cooked from frozen and shared by up to 10 people.

Those with a wheat allergy or intolerance will also be pleased to hear that the meaty masterpiece is gluten-free.

So unless your name's Ebeneezer Scrooge and you want to ruin Christmas, you can get your hands on Asda’s Extra Special Ultimate Pig in Blanket in store from October 22 for just £5.

Other retailers have also been announcing their festive offerings for this year.

For chocolate fans, John Lewis has opened the doors to its Christmas shop where you'll be able to create your own pick & mix Quality Street tins.

Asda has also brought out a glittery gingerbread gin liqueur, along with M&S who is bringing out a Christmas gin flavoured with festive spices.
