N-ICE TO KNOW

Tesco is doing chocolate Baileys ice cream and it sounds incredible

The vanilla ice cream is made with real Baileys and chocolate sauce - but it costs £4.50 a pot

BAILEYS now does its own brand of ice cream and you can get your hands on tubs of the dessert at Tesco.

The liqueur company has branched out to the freezer aisles with its “Chocolate Secret” ice cream.

Tesco
The tubs of Baileys contain 0.5 per cent ABV so you’ll need to be 18 or over to buy it

The dairy vanilla ice cream is drenched in chocolate sauce and flavoured with the bourbon-based liqueur.

Are you drooling yet? Because we know we are.

This really is a treat though because each 80g serving contains the 205 calories which only a fraction less than a McDonald’s hamburger (250 calories).

The each 500ml tub contains just over six portions – which is a whopping 1,281 calories.

Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy  more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards

Pots of the luxurious desserts are only available from .

Haagen-Dazs actually do their own version of Baileys ice cream which costs 60p less at .

But it contains just 2.5 per cent chocolate compared to a 13 per cent in the own brand version.

Remember, the ice cream is booze-based – with 0,5 per cent ABV – so you’ll need to be 18 or over to buy it, and you can order it online and in stores.
