ENGLISH sparkling wine is now more expensive than some champagnes.
Top French brands have cut prices in the face of a huge surge in prosecco sales.
Bollinger Special Cuvée, favourite of Joanna Lumley’s Patsy in TV’s Absolutely Fabulous, is £31, down from £42 last year.
Moet & Chandon Rose champagne is down from £40 to £32.
At the same, English fizz has soared in price due to a lack of supply.
Nyetimber Classic Cuvée English sparkling wine is up to £35 from £32.

Food and drink expert Martin Isark said: “There is no better time to buy champagne.”
English vineyards take at least three years to flourish even before the sparkling wine making process begins.
