Skittles launches SPICY flavoured sweets and we’re not sure about them

The fruity flavoured sweets have been given a spicy kick, and you can now buy them in Sainsbury's for £1.25

SKITTLES is popular for its wide range of fruity flavours, and now the sweets have been given a spicy kick with the launch of Skittles "Sweet Heat".

The limited edition spicy sweets are available to buy now in Sainsbury's and cost £1.25.

The family sized bags were spotted in store by the Instagram account who said: "Limited edition skittles sweet heat found @sainsburys"

We've had a look at the flavours on offer and it seems that Skittles hasn't got rid of its fruity flavours completely, but has given them a spicy twist. Some of the flavours include "Sizzlin Strawberry", "Fiery Watermelon" or "Scorchin Pineapple".

A recommended serving size of 49g, a quarter of the bag, has 196 calories and 43g of sugar. This is 13g more than the recommended sugar intake for adults, so you may only want to try a few at a time.

They are also the same price as other family sized bags of Skittles in Sainsbury's, which cost £1.25 for a bag.

Sainsbury's has said the spicy sweets will be available to buy in over 400 stores across the country.

Some people were excited to try the new flavours with one Instagrammer commenting "I wanna try these so bad".

However it seems that others weren't sure about the new variety.

For example one person commented "skittles gone wrong", with another saying "hmm dunno how I feel".

We've also had a look on Amazon where you could buy the smaller sized pack, and a few customers appeared to be unconvinced by the promise of a "spicy kick".

One reviewer commented "They taste quite nice, but they're not really that hot" and another said "It's not a super hot burn your mouth kind of heat. It's subtle".

Earlier this month Skittles also brought out a Rainbow Party Cake- a five layered vanilla sponge cake which comes topped with multi-coloured frosting and individual skittles. It's available to buy from Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's where it costs £12.

Skittles also launched soft chew skittles which come without a shell. These are available to buy in Asda and are said to have a lighter texture and less intense flavour than normal Skittles.
