Aldi’s £13 rib-eye Tomahawk steak is back – but you’ll have to be quick to snap it up

The budget supermarket has brought back the popular steak ahead of Bank Holiday weekend

ALDI is bringing back its popular Tomahawk steak, just in time for your Bank Holiday weekend barbecues.

The beef joint costs £12.99 a kg and you can get your hands on it from Thursday August 23 in Aldi stores across the UK.

But you'll have to hurry as the offer is part of the supermarket's "Specialbuy" deals, so the steak will only be available until stocks last.

You can also buy a Tomahawk steak in Waitrose but this comes in more expensive at £26.99 a kg, so you'll save £14 a kilo if you decide to head to Aldi.

The Tomahawk steak is a cut of rib-eye beef on the bone, which makes the meat more succulent and flavoursome when cooked, according to Aldi. On average it has around 2,530 calories.

If you get a Tomahawk in a restaurant, such as London steak chain Hawksmoor, it could set you back a hefty £65, and that's before adding sides.

For a top quality steak, the supermarket claims it is best served pan seared and rested for 15 minutes.

Aldi's meat deals prove popular with customers, who are known to quickly snap up the offers.

Its Wagyu beef burger sold out quickly when it was on sale for £3.49.

Earlier this year, Aldi's beef burgers fared better than Waitrose in a blind taste test conducted by consumer group Which?.

The premium supermarket ranked second with its Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus Beef Quarter Pounders.
