Nestlé often roll out new and unusual flavours of KitKat, such as the lemon drizzle flavour which you can buy in Asda in a 9 pack for £1.50.

Taking inspiration from baked goods, it also launched a New York Cheescake Flavoured KitKat Chunky bar.

However some customers weren't convinced by the release with one food blogger commenting how its vanilla filling had a "slight sour tang to it".

In April Tesco also started selling pink KitKats, made from ruby chocolate. The pink chocolate was developed last year in China and is made from the ruby cocoa bean has. The intense berry flavour of the cocoa bean removes the need for additional flavour or colouring.

They were first released in Japan and Korea just in time for Valetine's Day, along with some slightly stranger flavours which were inspired by traditional sushi filling- tuna, sea urchin and egg.

Last month KitKat lost its four-finger bar trademark after a court ruled it is "not well known enough". This means that rival confectioners can now make copycat bars of the four-finger chocolate.
