Virgin had refused to pay what it called "inflated" fees while UKTV, which is partly owned by the BBC, said it would not accept "drastic" pay cuts.

It meant customers lost free channels Dave, Drama, Really and Yesterday, as well as paid-for Gold, Alibi, Eden, Good Food and W.

Virgin tweeted today: "Good news! All UKTV channels are coming back to Virgin TV starting immediately."

And its chief digital entertainment officer David Bouchier said: "We are sorry for what we know has been a frustrating time for our customers, but are pleased that our TV bundles are now even bigger."
