Sainsbury’s recalls breakfast biscuits over fears they could trigger allergic reactions
The supermarket have recalled the breakfast snacks after concerns they could contain sesame.
SAINSBURY'S has recalled two varieties of its own-brand breakfast biscuit because they could contain sesame, which could cause an allergic reaction.
The supermarket does not list sesame on the product's packaging, meaning someone with allergy could accidentally eat them without realising.
The biscuits come in two flavours, Coconut & Yogurt and Cocoa Filled, and cost £1.20 each.
Those with a sesame allergy can suffer from swelling in the face or throat, difficulty breathing and severe asthma.
Some severe forms of the allergy can also result in anaphylactic shock, which can be life threatening.
A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “We are recalling by Sainsbury’s Coconut & Yogurt Filled breakfast biscuits and by Sainsbury’s Cocoa Filled Breakfast biscuits because they may contain sesame, which is not a listed ingredient.
“We’re asking customers to return this product to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will receive a full refund. No other Sainsbury’s products are affected and we’re sorry for any concern and inconvenience this may cause.”
Last month Sainsbury’s had to recall their Fruit and Honey Seed Mix because some bags were found to contain nuts.
