URGENT RECALL

Co-op is recalling noodles over allergy fears as customers warned not to eat them

Due to a labelling error on packets of the supermarket’s Hoisin Chicken Noodle Box, the food could be a health risk to people with a milk allergy

CO-OP has pulled some of its noodle boxes from shelves over fears they could cause an allergic reaction.

Due to a labelling error on boxes of the supermarket’s Hoisin Chicken Noodle, the food could be a health risk to people with a milk allergy.

The retailer is advising that customers do not eat the snack because the packets fail to declare that they contain the dairy product.

Affected packets weigh 224g and have a use-by date of up to and including July 31 2018.

If you have one that you think is affected you should return it to a Co-op store in exchange for a full refund.

Point of sale notices are now displayed in all retail stores selling the noodles.

In a statement posted on the Food Standards Agency, the supermarket said: "Customers who have bough this product are requested not to consumer the product and should return it to store for a full refund."

"We apologies for any inconvenience caused."

Supermarkets recall thousands of products from the shelves each year.

Earlier this month, British supermarkets have had to recall 43 sweetcorn based products over fears they could contain a deadly listeria bacteria after an outbreak of infections across Europe which killed nine people.

Health and safety experts warn that veg - like green beans, broccoli and sweetcorn - should be boiled or microwaved from frozen to kill the potentially-deadly bacteria.

And just last week, Morrisons and Asda pulled bottles of Tropicana fruit juice from shelves because it's going off early.

A batch of litre bottles of Trop50 Multivitamins were found to be naturally fermenting leaving the product to "spoil".
