Aldi has launched its own version of Hendrick’s gin – and it costs £12 less than the original

Aldi is planning to launch its Gin Festival range this month, with 10 new products including premium, craft and small batch gins

ALDI is releasing a new gin that looks suspiciously similar to a Hendrick's gin - but for a fraction of the price.

The budget supermarket's so-called Harrison's Cucumber gin costs just £15.99 for a 70cl bottle and it will be available in stores and online from Thursday (July 26).

That's quite a good price considering a bottle of the traditional juniper tipple will cost you £28 at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons

Luxury retailer is also selling the classic Henrick's gin for as much as £38.50.

According to Aldi, its gin is filled with distinct aromas of orange and spice with a tangy, sweet orange and citrus finish.

Just like the original version it has an ABV of around 41 per cent.

Aldi is also releasing a new pink version of its award-winning Oliver Cromwell dry gin, which will set you back £10.99 for a 70cl bottle.

According to the budget supermarket, the pale pink tipple is fruity with a distinctive sweetness on the palate and lifted notes of ripe squashed strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries, violets and plums.

Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy  more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards.

Aldi is advising customers to drink it neat over ice, with tonic or as part of a cocktail topped up with Prosecco and lemonade.

The most expensive product of the range is the 58 Gin, which will set you back £24.99.

The tipple is named as a tribute to its Australian distiller, who created the spirit after moving to the London borough of Hackey at door number 5.

It combines the finest British wheat spirit with nine carefully selected botanicals sourced from across the globe -  including juniper, coriander seed and Cubeb Peppers.

Bare in mind that these are all Aldi Specialbuys, which means that stock is likely to be limited, so you'll have to hurry if you want to grab one.
