Poundworld is selling everything including the SHELVES as more stores to close doors tomorrow
POUNDWORLD is closing its more of its stores tomorrow and is selling off everything - including the fixtures and fittings.
The discounter is due to close a further 40 shops as its creditors look for an eleventh hour buyer for the business.
The retailer has already closed 105 shops - and is due to close another 40 Poundworld stores tomorrow.
The struggling discounter announced last week that all Poundworld stores will be closed by August 10.
The budget chain employs 5,100 people - almost 1,800 will be left unemployed following the closures.
The company went bust in June after its administrators Deloitte were unable to find a buyer.
The Poundworld Plus store in Kettering posted a sad-looking photo of empty shelves, alongside the caption: "Our final five days and we are selling our fixtures for £60 for five shelves. Our entire store must go ASAP."
Talks with potential buyers R Capital fell through earlier this month and soon after Poundworld shops started slashing prices by up to 50 per cent.
One dad who visited Poundworld in Burnley and didn’t want to be named said: "Most of the aisles were empty by the time went in on Sunday.
"People were bumping into each other grabbing anything they could. Many of the shelves were missing too.
"Christmas decorations and Halloween masks were flying off the shelves. Some items were reduced to 10p.
"We managed to buy our daughter a Monster High doll for £6, they are usually about £15. The staff looked pretty miserable but who can blame them.
"It’s a shame - if a pound shop can’t stay open then what hope is there."

When it announced tomorrow's closures, joint administrator for Poundworld Clare Boardman said: "We would like to thank all the employees for their continued support and commitment during this difficult time.
"We are keeping staff appraised of developments as they happen."
Poundworld is owned by TPG Capital, which also owns restaurant chain Prezzo - which also recently announced closures.

The budget retailer is just one in a long line of high street shops to struggle in the current economic climate.
Clothing store New Look and flooring specialists Carpetright, are expected to close 60 and 92 stores respectively, putting hundreds of jobs at risk.
The bargain chain went bust in June, putting more than 5,000 jobs at risk and administrators have been desperately attempting to secure a buyer for the business ever since.
