McDonald’s fans furious as app crashes leaving some customers without free McMuffins
FANS have slammed McDonald's after a glitch in the app meant that they couldn't claim their free McMuffin this morning.
The fast food chain offered the deal in an attempt to comfort England fans who are still hurting over last night's result.
Customers had until 10:30 this morning to claim a free breakfast which they had to order through McDelivery with Uber Eats.
But some hungry fans weren't able to place their order after the offer disappeared from the app at around 9:30 this morning.
Angry customers took to twitter to share their outrage as the app crashed.
One person wrote: "Hey @McDonaldsUK I was really looking forward to the free McMuffin you promised me but all I'm left with is buffer face and an empty stomach.
"Not angry, just disappointed".
Another disappointed customer, RoboKelzor, had her hopes dashed right at the last minute when she was just about to redeem the offer when it disappeared from the app.
Another twitter user explained: "So we tried to get our free McMuffin from @MCDonaldsUK this morning but as soon as we walked through the door and scanned the QR code we just got an error message and then the offer was removed from the app."
The Sun Online asked McDonald's if they were planning to extend the offer to make up for the time lost due to the glitch, but they wouldn't say.
Instead, a spokesperson said: "We’ve had more than 20,000 people redeeming a free McMuffin which resulted in a very brief glitch in the app which was quickly resolved in less than five minutes."
Luckily, not everyone was affected by the outage as thousands of people did manage to get their free breakfast.
The fast-food chain serves breakfast every morning between 5am and 10:30am. After that, the normal burger menu resumes.

McDonald's is doing a Big Brekkie Burger which is made with a hash brown, melting cheese, rasher bacon and a freshly cracked egg, as well as a beef patty.
But unfortunately, it's only being served in Australia.
