Compare the Market launches Meerkat Meals giving 12-month pass for 2 for 1 meals at thousands of restaurants

YOU'LL soon be able to get two-for-one meals for a year at a raft of major restaurants less than a fiver - by taking out a cheap travel insurance deal.
Price comparison site Compare the Market is launching Meerkat Meals from July 16 - available at chains including Pizza Hut, Prezzo, Giraffe, Ask Italian, Zizzi, Handmade Burger Co and Strada - as well over a thousand independent restaurants.
The scheme offers two for one on breakfast, lunch and dinner from Sunday to Thursday. Up to six diners can get the deal and its valid on starts, mains and puds.
To get Meerkat Meals, Brits have to make a purchase via . This could be any form of insurance or taking out a credit card. The cheapest travel insurance is under £5.
Compare The Market is working with Taste Card, the long-running service that offers two-for-one on meals.
That costs £79.99 a year, though does have more restaurants and some offering the deal on Fridays and Saturdays too.
Compare The Market’s existing deal - Meerkat Movies, offering two-for-one tickets the cinema on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - remains, meaning people can get both year-long rewards together.
Anyone who has used Compare the Market to buy something in the past year will automatically get Meerkat Meals at launch.
The firm say over the past three years, they have dished out more than 10million free cinema tickets.
The move could also be a boost to restaurants and the High Street - in the face of falling spending, the firms says.
Julie Daniels, from Compare the Market said: “We hope that our offer will see millions of people head out to take advantage of the fantastic range of restaurants on offer. Big chains and local restaurants alike can also benefit from increased footfall earlier in the week as well as larger table bookings.”
