Lad is first in four generations to get a job, thanks to Sunemployment Roadshow

MORE than 50 Sun readers are back in work after our Sunemployment Roadshows kicked off in London.

Despite temperatures of around 30C, hundreds of jobseekers queued around the block at the first of our giant work fairs.

The first Sun reader to hear “You’re hired!” was Oliver Clarke, 26, from Camden, North London, who was one of seven attendees offered a team member position by Travelodge.

Oliver, who had been out of work since leaving school in 2011, said: “No one in my family has worked for four generations and getting this job is going to be life-changing for me.”

Telly host Jeremy Kyle opened the bumper jobs bonanza.

He told the audience: “This is my eighth year supporting the Sunemployment Roadshows.

“We have real jobs and you can be going home in work today.”

Another of the attendees who left the Roadshow with a job was Thulani Ndlovu — one of 26 people recruited by telecoms giant Openreach.

Thulani, 39, from Stratford, East London, said: “I’m working in the financial sector but am now looking for a new career which offers more progression.

Meanwhile Robert Voiculescu, 31, from Hillingdon, West London, is also excited to join Openreach, after working in airport security for four years.

He said: “I’m over the moon. Openreach seems like a fantastic company.”

Anne Milton, Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills, said: “Apprenticeships can turn your life around.

“Find a company offering them which will take you under their wing.”
