Other factors that matter to collectors are popularity and rarity.

For example, a Charizard from the first edition of Pokemon cards released in the 90s is valued at more than £40,000 online because those cards were limited in numbers.

What should you do if you have a valuable toy?

IF you think you’ve got an old toy that’s worth a bit extra then you should start by doing your research

  • Find out how much your toy is worth to a collector by checking the same or similartoys  under “sold listings”.
  • Compare your toy to other higher selling auctions and ask yourself if it’s in a similar condition
  • Look at things like conditions, release date and whether or not it is still in its original packaging.
  •  If it’s in mint condition then it might be worth selling it through an auction house or directly to a collectables website. If it’s not, it’s probably worth sticking it on eBay for a moderate sum.

If your toys are not on the list above, there's still a chance they could be worth a tidy sum on eBay.

Some Polly Pocket sets are fetching more than £1400 on the online auction website.
