ROLLS-Royce is cutting 4,600 jobs as the jet engine maker introduces a £500million shake-up to the business.
Most of the jobs will be in the UK, where the FTSE 100 company employs around 23,000 people.
The company has a global workforce of 50,000 meaning British staff make up almost half of the roles.
Recently Rolls Royce had been struggling to get on top of problems with its Trent 1000 engines.
The engines need their fan blades on turbines - on all Boeing 787 airplanes - replaced after ''cracks and corrosion'' were found on jets operated by Japan's ANA airline.
It had originally planned a £340million spend this year to cover repairs for them but that bill has been hiked to £500million.
The job cuts will save £400million in wages, which will help to manage the growing costs of the plans.
Rolls Royce Chief Executive Warren East said: “It is never an easy decision to reduce our workforce.
"But we must create a commercial organisation that is as world-leading as our technologies.
