The Sunemployment Roadshow is back with a host of top companies waiting to hire you
This year BT, Tesco, Greene King, Little Brown Publishing, Tottenham Hotspur and Pimlico Plumbers will be attending an event near you
OUR Sunemployment Roadshow is back.
This year, companies including BT, Tesco, Greene King, Little Brown Publishing, Tottenham Hotspur and Pimlico Plumbers are attending — and they are waiting to hire YOU.
Our three events, in London, Birmingham and Manchester, will also feature a debate chaired by TV’s Jeremy Kyle, giving readers the chance to question Government minsters and company bosses.
Last year, Andy Deacon, 53, found a job through the Sunemployment Roadshow in June after taking voluntary redundancy from Sainsbury’s, where he had worked for 33 years.
He attended the London show and landed a job as sales manager for Pimlico Plumbers.
Andy, of Southend-on-Sea in Essex, said: “Although I had registered with a few recruitment agencies and applied for jobs directly, I wasn’t getting anywhere and realised I needed to get myself in front of businesses, which is what happened at the shows.
“I ensured I was smartly dressed and had a CV with me so I could hand it out.
“I was very lucky because three companies expressed interest in me — Iceland, Travelodge and Pimlico Plumbers.
“I have a much better work-life balance than I had in my old role and manage a great team.
“I’d say to any Sun reader thinking about attending the shows, you’ve got nothing to lose by going along.
“Go with an open mind and enjoy it.
“The panel discussion was brilliant. I asked the first question which I think helped, as companies remembered me.
“Be well prepared, positive and confident and you’ll come away with something.”
Doors at all three events open at 10.30am.
Events run until 2.30pm with the panel debate at 11.30am.
Among the top job experts offering advice will be Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry, entrepreneur Kayam Iqbal and businesseswoman Seema Flower.

MCDONALD’S is looking to create 1,000 restaurant managers over the next six months.
As well as a competitive salary and good training, there are development opportunities on the table too, according to chief executive officer Paul Pomroy.
Maddy Morgan, 20, from Wellingborough, Northants, started with the fast-food company in July 2014 when she was studying for her GCSEs.
Now she combines her role as shift manager and studying media and communications at university.
Maddy says: “In two years, I’ve worked my way up from crew member to shift manager.
“The training is really good and there is a lot of support along the way.
“My manager has suggested I get more involved with customer communications.
“There is the option for me in the future to stay within the company and continue to progress.
“But whether I choose to stay or go, I have gained valuable skills that would help in another role.
“I’ve learnt to work in a very fast-paced environment and will finish university with two years of management experience in a multinational company.”
