M&S slashes the price of its posh steaks to £4 each and they’re cheaper than Tesco

The supermarket's offer is running until June 26 but it's only available in stores

MARKS & Spencer has slashed the price of some of its best cuts - and they're now cheaper than at Tesco.

The posh supermarket is selling sirloin and ribeye steaks for £4 each - a saving of about 20 per cent compared to their original £5 price tag.

M&S has lowered the price of individual tender sirloin and ribeye steaks to just £4 each

M&S's tender loin and ribeye cuts weigh 227g and 222g respectively. And if their £4 price tag might seem hefty, it's actually a pretty good offer compared to Tesco.

Tesco's Finest sirloin steak, which weigh 200g, will set you back £4.60. You can also find a cheaper cut for £2.83 but it weighs only 195g.

A ribeye steak at the UK's biggest supermarket will also cost you £4.50 - 50p more than at M&S.

M&S's deal is running from today (May 2) until June 26 but it's only available in stores.

How to make sure you're getting a good deal on your food shopping

HERE's how to check if a deal is worth it

  • Use mySupermarket.com to find the cheapest supermarket based on the items in your basket.
  • It lets shoppers compare prices at Tesco, Asda, Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Poundland, Iceland, Aldi, Lidl, Amazon, Boots, Superdrug, M&S and Poundstretcher.
  • Visit the website, add items to your basket and it will compare the prices and tell you which supermarket is cheapest based on your shopping list.
  • Bare in mind, it is difficult to compare each product like-for-like as most items don't weight the same or are not always from the same range

It's not the first time M&S surprised its customers with a meaty offer.

Last year, it was selling a £35 box with up to eight different types of meat in a money-saving move for its customers.

Last summer, it also brought back its popular £10 dine-in meal deal and put more steak options on the menu for the first time ever.

Of course, you're likely to find cheaper offer elsewhere.

It's also selling its fresh topside beef joint for £7 per kg down from £11 per kg.
