LOVE it or hate it, Marmite has been a classic spread for decades and it seems they are changing with the times.
Unilever, the Martmite maker, has released a reduced salt version of the cupboard staple, to cater for those who are on a low salt diet.
Containing 25 per cent less salt that it's original counterpart, the 250g jar is labelled slightly differently - with a light blue lid - to make customers aware of the difference.
The ''healthier'' Marmite costs £3.09 at all major supermarkets - including Tesco and Sainsbury's.
That's slightly more expensive than the normal £2.40 the original mix is.
Shannon Lennon-Smith, Marmite brand manager at Unilever, said: “Unilever knows that consumer tastes and a desire for wider choice, including lower salt variants, are constantly evolving.
She continued: ''By expanding our range with a new Reduced Salt variant, we hope to extend Marmite’s appeal even further so it can be enjoyed by even more people.''
The news comes after Unilever to announced it will be moving its London headquarters to the Netherlands.
The consumer goods company, which is the UK's third largest firm, insisted that its 7,300 UK workers and its 3,100 employees in the Netherlands will not be affected by the move.
