Till glitch at Sainsbury’s let shoppers stock up on unlimited supplies of free ice cream
One savvy shopper managed to get 36 tubs of ice cream for £2.50 after she kept getting a coupon for a free one every time she scanned it
SAINSBURY'S customers celebrated the warmer weather over the weekend after a "glitch" at the till meant they could get unlimited supplies of ice cream for £2.50.
When shoppers scanned their Nectar card when they bought a tub of Breyers ice cream, they were given a coupon to get another one free.
But the apparent glitch meant that when customers used the coupon to claim their free snack, they would get another coupon for free ice cream.
Bianca Parkinson, from Maidenhead, claimed that she walked out of her local store with 36 tubs of the frozen treat after she spotted the technical error on Saturday evening in her local Taplow store.
Normally, that amount of ice cream would have cost £90 but because of what seemed like a glitch, she only spent £2.50.
She shared her bargains on Facebook group .
Other shoppers took advantage of the deal too after trying it at other Sainsbury's stores around the country.
Luckily, Bianca had enough space in her fridge-freezer for all 36 tubs.
Bianca said: "It's an amazing glitch. The staff around me were hovering in shock. The man on the tills behind me overheard. He ran to the freezer and got the last four!"
To get the deal, the ice cream had to be bought separately, scanning the Nectar card with each purchase to create a new coupon.

So this meant that Bianca ended up with 36 receipts.
But instead of scoffing the lot, Bianca donated most of the tubs to her local foodbank, The Brett Foundation.
She said: "I'll be keeping some for myself and my family and will donate the rest to my local homeless shelter, as they have hot food night a few times a week and can have this for afters."
