SAINSBURY'S has pulled a batch of sliced beetroot from shelves over fears it may contain glass.
The jars were recalled after the retailer recovered small pieces of glass in one batch.
According to the Food Standards Agency, the presence of glass means the product is unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk for shoppers.
Customers who have bought the product are being urged to return it immediately for a full refund.
Just one batch has been affected in the recall - and punters who bought Sainsbury's Slice Beetroot 340g, barcode 7860491 with a best-before date of August 2019 should return the product to their nearest store.
In a recall notice issued on the FSA's website, the supermarket wrote: "We have identified the possible presence of small pieces of glass in one batch of the above product.
"As a precautionary measure, we are asking all customers who have bought this product with the above batch code, not to consume it, and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will receive a full refund."
No other Sainsbury's product are known to be affected.
Supermarkets recall thousands of products from the shelves each year.
Last month, pack of Aunt Bessie's potato croquettes sold in Lidl were recalled due to fears they could trigger allergic reactions.
Co-op also recently pulled breaded cod fillets from its shelves over fears some contain mustard and milk which aren't mentioned on the label.
This means that the fillets could be potentially harmful to anyone with an allergy to mustard or milk.
