Lidl recalls Aunt Bessie’s croquettes due to fears they could trigger an allergic reaction

PACKS of Aunt Bessie's potato croquettes sold in Lidl are being recalled due to fears they could trigger allergic reactions.

A "small number" were packed with potato balls containing egg, which is not mentioned on the label.

This means they could be a possible health risk to anyone with an egg allergy.

The affected packs have been withdrawn from sale and customers are advises to call the Aunt Bessie's helpline to get a refund.

A warning posted on the Food Standard Agency's website said: "This is an isolated incident and no other Aunt Bessie's products are affected by this recall."

"The health and safety of our customers is a priority for us and Aunt Bessie's and we would like to apologise unreservedly to our customer for any inconvenience caused."

Customers concerned about the recall can call the Aunt Bessie's Customer Service line on 01482 301335.

Hundreds of products are recalled every year.

Last week, Co-op recalled breaded cod fillets over allergy fears.  While Asda recalled sausages due to a labelling error.
