Lidl launches first supermarket 1.1kg Deluxe Cowboy Steak for £14.99 and it’s £8 cheaper than at the butcher

IF YOU'RE planning to have your family over this Bank Holiday weekend and fancy a sizzling steak - Lidl has got good news for you.

The budget chain has launched a 1.1kg beast of a cut – the Deluxe Cowboy Steak  – and it costs £14.99 per kg.

That's a pretty good deal considering that a Cowboy Steak from the butcher will .

A similar cut from Sainsbury's would also cost you £22.

A Cowboy Steak is a bone-in ribeye steak with a short frenched bone.

Lidl claims it is the first supermarket to sell the prime cut.

The massive joint of beef is dry aged on the bone for 14 days, and further matured to 21 days.

Lidl claims it gives the meat a fuller flavour with exceptional tenderness and succulence.

The monster steak will be available in stores from this Thursday (March 29) but those looking to try this meat feast will need to be quick.

The cut will only be available while stocks last and at this price it's likely to be popular with meat lovers.

Lidl scored another beefy hit in October when it launched a 21 day côte de boeuf - and it was £15 cheaper than at Waitrose.

Last year, Lidl and its rival Aldi were given the stamp of approval by posh lifestyle magazine Tatler.

You'll get to choose between five types of different cuts including boneless gammon, a roast pork leg, turkey breast and two chickens.

Shoppers can get up to 2.45 kg of meat for a tenner by taking advantage of the offer which is running until online and in stores until April 3.

Meanwhile Aldi slashed the price of Easter roast essentials to 29p a pack, including potatoes, parsnips and leeks.

This year Easter takes place from Good Friday on March 30 until Easter Monday on April 2 - making Easter Sunday fall on April 1, which is also April Fool's day.
