Are these the poshest Easter eggs ever? Morrisons is selling chocolate ‘QUAIL’ eggs

MORRISONS has taken posh Easter eggs one step further with its chocolate QUAIL eggs.

The fancy sweet treats look like quail eggs - which are smaller than a chicken's egg - and are encased in a "gold speckled sugar shell".

Forget gin flavoured eggs, because these posh spring time sweets even come in a tray of 12 of them.

Quails are small game birds that lay eggs more than half the size of a chicken's. They're considers a delicacy in some parts of the world.

Making our chocolate look like quail eggs is something we'd expect from Marks & Spencer - after all they did sell cauliflower steaks - but not from Morrisons.

Even so, they are part of their premium line - The Best - and they cost £3 for the 180g of chocolates.

If it's bang for your buck you're after then you're better off buying a normal, medium sized egg from Lidl for £2.99 for a 200g egg.

But if you know a posh-o who'd appreciate the choccies then you're best bet is buying them at Morrisons because luxury ones from Hotel Chocolat will set you back £10.

It's not long until Easter now, and if you're still on an egg hunt you should check out our round up of where to find the cheapest own brand, Cadbury, Nestle, Thorntons and Lindt chocolate ones.

Easter holiday dates change each year and the associated Bank holidays can fall anytime between March 22 and April 25.

This year Easter takes place from Good Friday on March 30 until Easter Monday on April 2 - making Easter Sunday fall on April 1, which is also April Fool's day.

Of course, you can avoid the chocolate treats altogether by opting instead for these bizarre Easter crackers and trees but we're not sure why you'd want to.
