Easter crackers and trees go on sale and shoppers are BAFFLED by them
EASTER crackers, trees and even wreaths have gone on sale and shoppers are baffled by them.
Retailers including Sainsbury's, Waitrose, John Lewis and Not On the High Street have started selling the Spring-themed decorations to turn the holiday into a money-spinner.
Sainsbury's describes the crackers - which cost £5 for six - as a way to "add little fun and pop to your Easter party".
While Waitrose shoppers can pick up six mini Easter crackers for £4.
John Lewis has a set of 34 Easter decorations for £12, which include eggs, chicks and bunnies.
Not On The High Street has a range of Easter trees and wreaths for sale, including a pastel pom pom Easter tree costing £50.
While the Party Pieces website, which is owned by the Duchess of Cambridge's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, is selling a tree for £19.99.
Carolyn Bailey, from Good Housekeeping magazine, told : “Easter weekend is now becoming an event and it is a great opportunity to decorate the house, and baubles are a big part of how you would decorate your house for Easter.”
“I would really recommend putting them in a hall so that when your guests arrive you have a home made Easter tree with lots of baubles on.”
But unconvinced shoppers have been sharing their views on social media.
One said: "Hmmm, I guess if hot cross buns are avail [sic] all year round then 'Easter crackers' make sense also..."
Another added: "Easter crackers?! WTH!?".
