Then take one of 200 apprenticeship opportunities that leading pub retailer and brewer Greene King has on offer.
Since launching its award-winning apprenticeship programme in 2011 it has supported 10,000 team members through the scheme.
The programme offers roles for chefs, bar and front of house staff.
It combines on-the-job training and classroom learning to help employees achieve industry-leading qualifications and progress on to building a career in hospitality.
Since its launch, the scheme has been repeatedly recognised both by the hospitality industry and externally for its dedication to high quality training and development.
The programme demonstrates that higher education, an avenue which has traditionally proved popular, isn’t the only choice available to young people.
