Bills are set to go up from April 1 and customers are being contacted by letter.

The telecoms giant is pushing up costs by £1.50 per month for selected TV bundles.

Those with full Sky Sports rolling contracts will go up by 50p a month.

Some broadband products are going up by £1.01 a month.

How to beat the hikes

IF you're a Sky customer outside the minimum term of your contract then you can leave penalty free.

For TV customers you have to give 30 days notice. For more information on how to cancel visit the

If you're a broadband and phone customer - and you're outside the minimum term of your contract - then you can leave without paying a fee too. You need to give 14 days notice.

If you're still in your contract and you're unhappy about the increase but don't want to leave Sky then you can try calling up to haggle.

Telecoms firms don't wan't to lose customers so its worth seeing if they can do you a better deal.

The best way to do this is by finding a better deal than you're already on. Then call up Sky and say you'd like to leave.

Ask if there is any way they can cut your bills. If they refuse, then ask if there are any free extras that they can throw in.

While some call rates will increase and voicemail is going up by 75p.

A spokesperson from Sky said: “Not all customers will see their bills increase with many Sky products remaining at their current price and, for some products, this will be the first increase in two years.

"We continue to invest in content, products and services that our customers love, offering both new and existing customers great value and more choice through flexible packages.”

A number of Sky packages, including its TV Entertainment one and Sky Fibre Broadband, will remain at the same price.

Last year, Sky put up bills for some customers by around £36 a year.

In January, it revamped its packages to allow TV customers to get an extra 80 channels without paying more.

The new package - which includes MTV, Sky Atlantic and Discovery as well as 350 other channels - will also allow customers to personalise their plans for just £20 a month, as we revealed back in December.
