Okay, so it doesn't sound like a big discount, but it actually makes it the cheapest bottle of supermarket prosecco on the market.

The next best deal is on a bottle of Treviso DOC from Lidl which costs £5.25 and a bottle from Aldi that costs £5.99.

The Italian fizz scooped Silver at the 2017 Decanter Awards and Bronze at the prestigious International Wine Challenge.

Asda reckons it tastes "fresh and fruity" and "deliciously zesty" and should be sipped alongside seafood dishes or fruity desserts.

You can enjoy the deal even if you're not in the dating game. Stock up on the deal and you can toast to freedom and celebrate "Palentine's Day" with your mates.

It's not the cheapest price that they've sold the fizz for. At Christmas you could pick up six bottles for £25 which made one bottle just £4.17.

Savvy shoppers can already get their hands on the offer in stores and online now but it doesn't last long.

The deal ends on February 14. After that it will go back up to its normal price of £6.

Retailers usually reduce prosecco prices twice a year – at Christmas and around Valentine’s Day - so now’s the best time to stock up.

Aldi and Lidl sell champagnes for £10.99 each, making them the cheapest available from the supermarkets.

The cheapest branded bottle of champers is a Vueve Cliquote Label NV which will set you back £34 from Tesco.

Since the publication of this article Aldi has dropped the price of it's prosecco to £4.99.
