THE Queen’s home borough is the heavy-drinking capital of England.
Posh Windsor and Maidenhead — where Her Majesty has her castle — has more adults supping over the recommended weekly limit of 14 units than anywhere else.
Some 51.3 per cent down too much.
And the range of drinking dens in the main town may be one reason why.
Travel bible Lonely Planet gushes: “Windsor has some brilliant little pubs.”
Tripadvisor rates champagne and cocktail bar No5 St Leonards Road as Windsor’s No1.
One reviewer wrote: “Stumbled across this place two years ago and have been there almost every weekend since.”
Second is Wandsworth, South West London, with 43.9 per cent, followed by Runcorn and Widnes in Cheshire with 42.7 per cent.
Brighton and Hove is next with 41.9 per cent, then Gateshead with 38.3 per cent, and Hammersmith and Fulham in West London with 36.8 per cent.
The results are taken from the most recent numbers on record from Public Health England, released from research carried out between 2011 and 2014.
