Finding copies of some old cartoons can be difficult due to the strict release schedules that Disney maintains.

This marketing system results in high demand for some of its classics and artificially inflates the price of previously released editions.

For example, we found some items from the coveted Walt Disney Treasures collection that sold for just under £300.

Other savvy eBay users are also selling their old collections - mostly unused or in their original packaging, for up to £200.

So if you're an old Disney fan it might be time to check your shelves and boxes.

Here are some examples of the DVDs to look out for:

What should you do if you have a valuable Disney DVD?

IF you think you’ve got a limited edition Disney DVD and you think it's worth a tidy sum, then you should start by doing your research.

  • Find out how much your DVD is worth to a collector by checking the same or similar editions under “sold listings” on auction sites.
  • Compare your copy to other higher selling auctions and ask yourself if it’s in a similar condition? Is it authentic? Is it still in its original packaging? Does it contain any special features?
  • If it’s in mint condition then it might be worth sellingr directly to a collectables website.
  • If it’s not, it’s probably worth sticking it on eBay for a moderate sum.
  • As a general rule of thumb, the editions that are out of stock and hard to find due to limited release, as well as those that are more than 20 years old, are the most valuable ones.

There were nine waves, each containing two, three or four different sets, for a total of 30 titles.

This DVD was in its original packaging, although the seller admitted there were "a few small tears in the shrink".

It was originally released ten years ago, and is no longer available for sale. This adds value in the eyes of a collector.

How to avoid the dangers of selling your DVDs on eBay

SELLING things on eBay can be a big money earner - when you're doing it right. Here are the dangers you need to avoid if you want to make a profit:

  • You need to set a minimum price on your auction. It needs to be higher or at least value to what you're selling, otherwise it could be bought for less than it's worth. This is exactly what happened when someone sold a new £10 note for less than a tenner.
  • Even if your item sells, there's no guarantee the buyer will cough up. When you set up the auction you can opt for the highest bidder to pay straight away.
  • Don't forget that eBay will charge you a sellers fee if you sell your item. If you're selling up to 50 items a month - and you're not a business -  you'll be charged 10 per cent of the sale. Take this into consideration when you're listing your item.

If you were never into Disney cartoons, there are chances that some of your others old toys and gadgets could be valuable to collectors.

Many nineties kids will remember the virtual pet craze that was the Tamagotchi but some might not know about the lesser-known variation - Digimon.

The toys have now reappeared as popular collector's items with some selling for hundreds online.

Some Polly Pocket sets are also fetching more than £1400 on eBay. Meanwhile, you could sell your vintage troll dolls for up to £200.

We have also revealed how you could earn up to £10,000 a month by investing in whisky - if you're willing to put some effort into it.
