CHEERS TO THAT

Walkers is launching some new crisps and they are supposed to be eaten while drinking beer

The new three flavours - chilli and lime, hot chicken wings, and jalapeno and cheese - have been specially designed to enjoy with a pint

YOU can't beat a pint and a packet of crisps and the boffins at Walkers are doing their bit to make it extra special.

It's launched a new "Max Strong" range, with each flavour created to complement different types of beer.

The three flavours are chilli and lime for those who don't like their crisps too spicy, hot chicken wings for those who like a little bit of kick, and extra hot jalapeno and cheese for those brave enough and can't get enough spice on their snacks.

The Sun Online hasn't had chance to taste the new flavours yet so we're not quite sure how they pair-up with a pint of beer or lager  - but we're certainly keen to try.

We also think they look like that other big-flavoured brand, McCoys.

Rachel Holms, senior marketing director at PepsiCo, the owner of Walkers, said: "We saw this as an untapped opportunity in the market and have created Walkers Max Strong to answer this demand for a perfect snack to accompany a pint.

"It is no surprise that beer and snacks can play a role when it comes to social sharing, with over fifteen million weekly beer occasions taking place in the UK, with crisps being well-placed given existing consumption moments."

The bags, will be available in normal-sized packs (50g) for 80p and 150g share bags for £1.99.

The new crisps follow the more traditional flavours in Walker's Max range, which are Paprika, Flamin' Hot and Cheese and Onion.

The snack industry is big business in the UK - last month the Sun Online reported on Essex businessman Nick Coleman who set up a posh pork scratching firm in 2014.

Now just three years later, his firm has a turnover of £3.5million.

Last year, the snack giant stuffed fivers into 250,000 bags of crisps and other prizes in a £2million promotion.

But shoplifters were tearing open bags in shops and supermarkets, in order to get their hands on the cash.

And it was also offering the chance for some lucky crisps fanatic to land their dream job and  taste-test their snacks.

It was also left red-faced after its online advert campaign staring ex-footballer Gary Lineker was hijacked by trolls.

The twitter promotion was trolled with images of murderers Fred West and Peter Sutcliffe.
