STORES are duping customers with bogus deals despite a clampdown.

Their researchers analysed prices for 223 products on special offers in supermarkets.
They found that one tactic was to hike prices just before launching a multi-buy deal.
A pack of Muller Fruit Corner yoghurts from Ocado rose from £1.94 to £3.89 as a “2 for £5” offer started — so shoppers spent £1.12 more for the pair than they would have before.
Waitrose upped a 2ltr Sprite from £1 to £1.85 the day before a “2 for £3” deal began, so a bottle was 50p more.

The Competition and Markets Authority urged stores to end misleading tactics after a Which? probe in 2015.
