B&Q issues warning over lights due to fears customers may cut themselves on their sharp edges
The Astraea spotlights were on sale earlier this year and could cause cuts to fingers when being installed or cleaned
DIY enthusiasts are being warned to take extra care when installing B&Q lights over fears they could cut themselves.
The retailer has urged customers who bought its Astraea spotlights to take extra care when installing, cleaning, or replacing bulbs, as the product could cause cuts to fingers.
It said that despite its “rigorous quality control procedures” it has been made aware that the decorative rings around the bulb holder may have sharp edges.
The lights come with one, two, three or four bulbs – and the warning is for each one.
The spotlights were on sale between August and November this year, with around 4,000 sold in the UK and Ireland.
The affected products’ barcodes are:

- 3663602803487
- 3663602803485

A spokeswoman for B&Q said: “We are advising customers to take care when handling this product during installation, replacing bulbs or for cleaning as the decorative rings surrounding the bulb holder may have sharp edges.”
All other lights sold by B&Q are unaffected, the spokeswoman added.
Just yesterday, the retailer issued an urgent recall for a bath of remote control plugs over fears they could catch fire.
A total of 70,000 products were sold between September 2014 and November 2017 – and the shop has urged customers to switch off the plus immediately and return them for a full refund.
Anyone concerned about the plugs can contact B&Q on 0300 303 4482 in the UK and 1800 946 327 in the Republic of Ireland.
Shops and manufactures issue recalls or product warning when they discover a problem with a product.
