CRACKING UP

Cadbury’s Creme Eggs are already in the shops and Christmas isn’t even over yet

The egg-cellent treats usually hit the shelves on New Year's Day and are on sale until Easter

WE haven't even sat around the table for Christmas dinner yet but some stores are already getting in the mood for Easter.

Some shops have already started flogging Cadbury's Creme Eggs - A WEEK before Christmas.

Traditionally, the chocolate treat hits the shelves on New Year's Day and remain on sale all the way up until Easter.

But one eagle-eyed shopper spotted that the eggs have already been put on sale for 65p at his local  newsagents in Norwich today.

Scot Colvey who took the pic said: "I nipped in the shop this morning to get a tube of the festive Pringles, funnily enough, and saw them in a box by the till.

"I do love Creme Eggs but it does seem a little early to have them out and be thinking about Easter - it's still a week until Christmas!"

Others have also been taking to Twitter to say they've spotted the eggs on sale too.

Sarah Jayne wrote: "Creme eggs and mini eggs out already! Crikey!"

Wayne Singleton said: "Sprouts? Our local shop has Creme Eggs on as a Christmas special!!

A spokeswoman for Cadbury's told The Sun Online that although it had no plans to start selling Creme Eggs all year-round, retailers can order them in now for the usual sales period and might decide to get them on the shelves as quickly as they can.

"All our Easter range will be available in major retailers after New Year’s Day," she said.

"However, as some stores know that people can’t wait to get their hands on Easter products, they may decide to stock the product before Christmas."

In the summer Cadbury's, and its US owners Mondelez, were accused of greed after it started selling its Mini-Eggs during the summer months, as part of its "Mini-Eggs on Holiday" campaign.

Shoppers were left aghast after lots of supermarkets started flogging chocolate eggs on BOXING DAY 2016 - over four months before Easter.

And furious shoppers blasted Cadbury's and Nestle for missing the word "Easter" off their eggs last year.

If you can't get enough of Creme Eggs, keep an eye out on what Deliveroo gets up to this Easter.

It made a Creme Egg PIZZA - which sounds pretty gross to us.
