Cheapest Christmas champagne deals – Prosecco, Cava and fizz 2017 revealed
IF you want fizz to flow freely over the festive period without worrying about your wallet, then you need to know where to find the most bubbly for your buck.
Retailers usually reduce the prices twice a year – at Christmas and around Valentine’s Day – so now’s the best time to stock up.
But with loads offers out there, we geddit…it’s confusing.
The Sun Online looked at prices of Cava, Prosecco and Champagne (branded and non branded) using MySupermarket.com to find out who is selling the cheapest bubbly.
We also asked Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda M&S, Morrisons, Co-op as well as Lidl and Aldi to send us what they thought were their best deals.
Of course, our data doesn’t take into account the quality of the alcohol so that may be reflected in the price.
It’s also worth noting that prices change rapidly in the run-up to Christmas – so the best offer today might change by tomorrow.
Here is what we found:
Asda is set to sell its award-winning Pierre Darcys Champagne Brut for just £8 in its stores across the UK.
This means the Pierre Darcys Champagne Brut will cost you just £1.33 per glass, making it the cheapest tipple on the market.
This elegant champagne has delicate aromas of lemon and apple, with hints of ripe nectarine, according to Asda.
Sadly, the offer will only be available for three days from tomorrow (Friday December 8) until Sunday December 10 – so you’ll have to be quick if you want to stock up ahead of Christmas.
If you miss the offer, the next cheapest one will be the and the both are award-winning champagnes and are selling for £10.99 a bottle.
The cheapest branded Champagnes
Lanson Black Label – For £22 at and
If you’re looking for a more established brand, you can get a bottle of Lanson Black Label from £22 at Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
It’s worth nothing that if you miss the Christmas discounts, Sainsbury’s usually has the cheapest price on Lanson at £30 per bottle.
Veuve Cliquot – For £32 at and
The leading champagne house of Veuve Clicquot sees constant popularity for its famous bubbly.
And you can now get a small discount at both Waitrose and Tesco with both supermarkets selling the bubbly for £32 down from £39 and £40 respectively.
It’s worth noting that Tesco’s offer will expire on Monday December 11 but you’ll still be able to get the luxury drink from Waitrose until December 31.
If you want to impress your guest at Christmas or New Year’s Eve, a luxurious bottle of Moët & Chandon should do the trick.

And you can now get it for a smaller price at Asda, whish is selling a 75cl bottle for £25.
Your next bottle will be coming from Sainsbury’s which is selling the same bottle for £26.
Tattinger Brut Reserve NV Champagne – £27 at Asda, and
Taittinger is one of the few Champagne houses still owned and managed by the family whose name appears on the label.
In fact, it so luxurious many retailer recommend to pair it with smoked salmon.
Thankfully, it is now selling for a discounted £27 at Tesco, Waitrose and Asda down from its usual price of £35 to £36.
Once again, don’t forget that Tesco’s offer will end on Monday while Waitrose’s deal ends on December 31.
Morrisons – almost £10 less than the other retailers – all year long.
Bollinger is famous for its consistency of style, structure and aromatic complexity.
You can now get the posh bottle for a discounted £30, down from £44 from Asda.
You’ll find the next best deal at Sainsbury’s which is selling the bottle for £34.
Affordable cava can sometimes be a delight like this one from Lidl that cost just £4.95.
According to the bargain supermarket, the sparkling wine, which comes from the Catalonia region in Spain, is fruity with zingy citrus fruit as well as a hint of ripe apple.
It is followed closely by rival Aldi with its .
Aldi recommends to drink it as an aperitif or accompanying poultry, rice and pasta dishes.
Last but not least is the Montcadi Cava Brut from .
The cheapest Prosecco – and
Often regarded as champagne’s younger, cheaper cousin, Prosecco has gained in popularity over the last few years.
Recent figure from revealed that the average price of a bottle has fallen by 23p to £6.76 this year boosted by falling prices from bargain retailers Lidl and Aldi.

And, according to our research, both supermarkets still have the cheapest fizz on offer.
Both Aldi’s Belleti Prosecco Frizzante and Lidl’s Prosecco Frizante are selling for £5.25.
Frizzante means that this is not quite as fizzy as Prosecco Spumante, but it is still lively and moreish.
It’s worth noting that you can’t get them online so you’ll have to make a trip to the store.
The next cheapest deal we found is the Scalini Prosecco from Co-op now selling for £6.99, down from £8.99.
How to get the best deal on your prosecco
BEFORE buying your fizz, make sure you’re getting the best deal possible with these tips.
- Look for vouchers on money saving websites like andwho list deals you can hand over to retailers.
- Check sites like to check if you can get the same bottle cheaper in any other supermarket. You can also see when products were on offer to see if you’re getting the best deal.
- Keep an eye out for discounts, offers and reduced prices.
- Check online and in stores to see if the supermarket is offering a special deal if you shop at one or the other.
If you’re willing to jump through a few hoops until Monday you can actually snap up bottles of Prosecco worth £6 at the supermarket for just £1.50.
