Warning over girls’ M&S pyjamas as retailer recalls them due to safety fears
M&S found there is a possibility that the position of the drawstring on the clothing item could be potentially dangerous to the wearer
MARKS and Spencer has recalled a range of pyjamas amid fears that they put the wearer's safety at risk.
The safety warning, which was issued on October 25 after a design fault was identified, involves a set of pyjamas for girls aged between seven and 15.
Any customers who have further questions regarding the product should contact the retailer's customer services on 0333 014 8555.
While no injuries have been reported, M&S found there is a possibility that the position of the drawstring on the clothing item could present a potential safety hazard to the wearer.
It's feared parents might have ordered the jim-jams and secretly stored them away, ready to be opened and tried on Christmas day.
The retailer is now advising customers who have bought the pyjamas or received them as a gift to stop using them immediately.
Parents who have bought the pyjamas are urged to return it to any M&S store - except Simply Food and Outlet stores - where a full refund will be given.
The safety warning involves the set of "girls' hoodie check pj" that have been on sale in M&S stores since September 30 until they were withdrawn on October 24 with the product code T86/2027.
In a statement posted on the retailer's website, M&S said: "Customers who have purchased this product or received it as a gift are asked to return it immediately to any M&S Store , where a full refund will be given.
"The safety of customers is our top priority and we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."
M&S is not the first retailer to recall some of its clothing ranges for kids over safety fears.
Just last week, Next recalled some of its children's garments over safety fears.
Two winter coats sold by the firm did not meet the high safety standards required as some of the buttons on the coats could come loose and be swallowed by young kids.
Earlier this summer, Next also issued an urgent safety warning after discovering a range of kids shoes thought to contain a banned substance.
At the time experts warned the toxic chemical is linked to cancer in certain circumstances.
